Yamaha R1 serves up impressive results in 24 Hours of Le Mans

All five teams of the Yamaha extended support program have managed to finish in the 24 Hours of Le Mans thanks to the Yamaha R1.

The 2019 24 Hours of Le Mans has successfully ended with Kawasaki clinching the crown this year. Despite that, the event served a huge benefit for the teams within Yamaha’s extended support program in the FIM Endurance World Championship. This is as such as all five teams made it to the finish in this challenging event thanks to the Yamaha R1. There was a last minute rider change with Michael Laverty stepping in for Matthieu Lagrive on the Thursday before the race. WEPOL Racing of Germany was the first Yamaha team home in Le Mans. The team was close to a podium win at the Bol d’Or. Representing the team, riders Laverty, Danny Webb and Sheridan Morais came in fourth place with their WEPOL Yamaha R1. The team is now third place in the overall standings with 80 points. Hailing from France, 3ART- Moto Team 95, became the second Yamaha team to cross the finish line. Riders Morgan Berchet, Matthieu Lussiana and Alex Pancassagne took the Yamaha R1 past the chequered flag in sixth place. The team is now 11th in the overall standings of the championship. Moto AIN bike was the third Yamaha team to check in their victory. Roberto Rolfo, Robin Mulhauser and Stefan Hill did suffer an early crash but bounced back to finish ninth overall. They are now second in the SST class.    Next up, the VRD Igol Pierrot Experiences Yamaha team came in 19th in the race. Florian Alt, Florian Marino and Xavier Simeon have moved the team up to 17th overall in the championship. Last but not least, the Slovakian Maco Racing Team ended up at 32nd.
