Superbikes, flying bikes, self-riding bikes and now 3D printed bikes, the motorcycle industry is certainly expanding with the vast improvements in technology. If you have not heard of Nera, now is your time to. The electric motorcycle- Nera- looks like it came out from a video game, with its TRON-like design which is almost 100% 3D printed. “The idea was to demonstrate to designers and engineers and architects and the general consumer what 3D printing was all about,” said Stephan Beyer, the CEO of Nera maker BigRep. “Historically, engineers and designers have been limited with manufacturing technologies like grinding and moulding.”
BBC claims that the Nera is expected to come with a price tag £2,000. It is the world’s first 3D printed electric motorcycle. The design of the bike is unique, with its sharp angles and impressive details. “The nice thing with 3D printing is that you can swipe those limitations away and you can create objects that have completely new capabilities, follow completely new sets of designs,” Beyer adds.
