Walt Siegl Motorcycles Superbike – A sportbike done right!

This isn’t the first time Walt Siegl Motorcycles (WSM) appears on our radar, and if the Superbike #1 and the MV Agusta Brutale 800 left us dreaming, the latest work done by this specialist custom shop show us how to do a sportbike the right way!

Always keeping the retro theme on his bikes, Walt Siegl’s created another piece of art on two wheels, and the Superbike is proof that even though we’ve seen too many customized motorcycles, there’s still space for some special quality projects.

This Superbike features a race-spec Ducati 1098 superbike engine, touched by the magic hands of Bruce Meyers Performance. It has four valves and it is liquid cooled, which in conjunction with a specific electronics package – complete with bespoke ECU by Walt Siegl Motorcycles – allows the twin-cylinder engine to produce more power and torque.

Built around the engine, there’s a specific hand-made steel chrome-moly trellis frame by WSM themselves, while the one-sided swingarm is taken from a stock Ducati 1098 sportbike.

But although the bike features a timeless design, and is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful bikes we’ve seen this year, it’s not just a bike to look at and keep inside the garage. Walt Siegl Motorcycles wants the owner of the Superbike to ride her as fast as possible, so, the American builders used a lot of go-fast parts.

Lightweight wheels are sourced from OZ Racing, suspensions come from Swedish specialists Öhlins, with the World Superbike spec FGR front fork stealing the headlines here while stopping power comes from a set of Brembo calipers and rotors.

The streamlined fairings are made in carbon fiber, as well as other parts like the airbox, and everything done on this custom project is made with the highest standards in terms of quality and finish.
