There were a lot of rumors about the future of triple world champion Jonathan Rea, but at the end of the day, the Northern Irishman decided to stay with his current World Superbike team, the Kawasaki Racing Team, and renewed for two more years.
Rea has been on fire since joining Kawasaki, and for the last three seasons he has become the man to beat in Superbike, dominating almost every weekend of racing and securing a record of 60 wins in his career.
He is leading the championship standings with a 65-point advantage over Chaz Davies (Ducati), and although things didn’t go very well with him and his team mate Tom Sykes at Race 2 in Brno, this past weekend, Rea is still the grand favorite to grab the World Superbike title.
Jonathan Rea had many options to continue racing in 2019, and he could have even made the move to MotoGP, but he decided to remain loyal to Kawasaki for two more years.
