As the 2025 Superbike World Championship heads to Italy for Round 4, the Honda HRC team is riding a wave of renewed confidence. Following a season-best performance at Assen, riders Xavi Vierge and Iker Lecuona are set to take on the technical twists of the Cremona Circuit, hoping to carry their momentum into the heart of Lombardy.

Confidence High After Assen Breakthrough

The team’s trip to the Netherlands just over two weeks ago brought significant progress. A challenging wet Superpole race in Race 1 saw Lecuona and Vierge finish fifth and sixth respectively, separated by just two-tenths of a second. It was the best joint result for the squad so far this season. It was a small but meaningful reward for their persistent development of the CBR1000RR-R.

Now, they turn their focus to Cremona. It is a track that, while relatively new to the WorldSBK calendar, already holds promise for Honda.

Cremona: Short, Technical, and Favorable

Measuring just 3.768 km, Cremona is the shortest track in the championship. Although what it lacks in length, it makes up for it in character. It features 13 corners, six rights and seven lefts. The circuit offers a compact, kart-like layout that rewards sharp handling and balanced setup. These are two areas where Honda made measurable gains in 2024.

Last year, Lecuona scored a trio of top-six finishes. On the other hand, Vierge came home sixth and eighth in the long races. This is proof that the team’s package can work around this tight and technical venue.

Eyes on the Front Group

With both riders inside the top six at Assen and a track that suits the CBR’s current characteristics, Honda HRC heads to Cremona looking to reduce the gap to the championship’s frontrunners. While a podium might still be a stretch, consistent top-five battles are within reach if the team can deliver across the full race weekend.

As the WorldSBK grid rolls into one of Italy’s newest circuits, all eyes will be on whether Honda’s recent gains can be transformed into sustained momentum.
