In a move that signals both confidence and ambition, Zero Motorcycles, the pioneer of electric motorcycling, is relocating its global headquarters from California to the Netherlands. The decision marks a major milestone in the company’s nearly 20-year journey. It also underscores Europe’s pivotal role in the evolution of the electric two-wheeler industry.

Europe Takes the Lead

The Netherlands has long been at the centre of Europe’s electric mobility boom. Now, it’s home to the company that helped define it. By consolidating its worldwide operations in the heart of its fastest-growing market, Zero is positioning itself closer to the action. Europe’s thriving EV ecosystem, where adoption rates, infrastructure, and consumer enthusiasm are accelerating at a record pace, offers the ideal environment for the company’s next phase of growth.

The Netherlands offers more than geography. It represents a culture of sustainability, cutting-edge engineering, and progressive transport policy. It is the ideal environment for a brand redefining what performance electric motorcycling means.

California Stays the Creative Core

While the global command centre shifts to Europe, Zero’s roots in Scotts Valley, California, remain firmly planted. The company’s R&D and engineering divisions will continue to operate from its Bay Area facility, the birthplace of Zero’s pioneering models and advanced powertrain technology.

This dual-hub strategy reflects the company’s evolution. Europe drives growth and customer reach, while California continues to power innovation and design. It’s a balance that keeps Zero’s creative pulse strong while anchoring its commercial leadership where demand is surging fastest.

A $50 Million Boost for the Next Chapter

Backing this bold transition, Zero’s majority shareholder has injected an additional $50 million in fresh funding. The investment will fuel the relocation, accelerate product development, and strengthen Zero’s international operations. More importantly, it signals unwavering investor confidence in the company’s long-term leadership in the EV powersports sector.

A Sharper Focus for the Future

From the DSR/X adventure platform to its expanding urban lineup, Zero has consistently set the benchmark for performance and capability in electric motorcycles. With its new base in Europe, the company aims to deliver even faster innovation cycles, stronger dealer support, and closer partnerships with the growing network of EV suppliers, policy makers, and riders shaping the future of mobility.

Power Shift: From California to the World

Industry watchers see the relocation as a smart play, a recognition that the centre of gravity for EV adoption has shifted. Europe’s urban policies, environmental incentives, and high demand for clean mobility make it the perfect command base for Zero’s next growth phase.

In short, Zero isn’t following the EV wave; it’s determined to stay ahead of it.
