On April 11, the electric motorcycle brand filed a trademark application for the term, strongly suggesting it will be the name of its upcoming electric maxi-scooter. The bike is currently in development with Taiwanese manufacturer Kymco.

Filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the application covers everything from motor scooters and electric motorcycles to structural parts for two-wheeled vehicles. Notably, this is the first LiveWire trademark filing that explicitly includes scooters. This hints that “Doki” isn’t just a concept title, but likely the production name for the company’s debut electric scooter.

What’s in a Name?

“Doki” may not carry much meaning in English, but it resonates in Japanese pop culture. The term is derived from “Doki Doki,” an onomatopoeic phrase mimicking the sound of a racing heartbeat. It’s a subtle nod to excitement and energy, qualities that LiveWire seems eager to associate with its upcoming scooter.

Built on a Proven Platform

LiveWire is building its upcoming scooter on the brand’s S2 Arrow platform—the same modular foundation powering the Del Mar, Mulholland, and Alpinista electric motorcycles. The company has already demonstrated that flexibility; in concept versions revealed last November, it cleverly repurposed the S2’s layout for the scooter.

In the prototypes, the battery pack is oriented lengthwise, with one concept exposing the pack entirely. The motor has been flipped, placing the drive belt on the right side. This is a reversal from LiveWire’s current motorcycles. These tweaks showcase the modular adaptability of the S2 platform. This positions it as a versatile base for a broader EV lineup.

From Concept to Reality

LiveWire clearly labelled the two concepts shown last year as illustrative prototypes, but they still gave the public a glimpse into the company’s design intent. The maxi-scooter should offer commuter-friendly ergonomics, wrapped in a modern design that blends utility with performance.

LiveWire has targeted a launch window in the first half of 2026. The trademark filing indicates that development is progressing steadily. With its partnership with Kymco and a well-regarded platform already in place, LiveWire’s Doki could emerge as a serious player in the growing urban EV space.

Bottom Line for LiveWire

With a catchy, culturally inspired name and a strong technical foundation, the LiveWire Doki is shaping up to be more than just a side project. It’s a strategic leap into a booming scooter market—one that values both form and function. As the countdown to 2026 begins, all eyes will be on how LiveWire and Kymco transform a modular concept into a real-world, road-ready machine.
