After a dramatic weekend in Texas, the Honda HRC Castrol squad heads to the bright lights of Lusail, ready to light up Round 4 of the 2025 MotoGP World Championship. It’s time for the only night race of the season — and Luca Marini and Joan Mir are fired up to deliver under the desert stars.

The Lusail International Circuit just outside Doha has been a fan favorite since 2004. With its sweeping corners and long straights, Lusail demands the perfect balance of speed, stability, and grit — and that’s exactly what Honda’s riders are bringing to the table.

Marini: Momentum and Motivation

Luca Marini is riding a wave of momentum into Qatar. Already ninth in the standings and with more points on the board than his entire 2024 campaign, Marini’s hard work and sharp focus are paying off.

After scoring his best-ever Sunday result aboard the Honda RC213V last time out, the Italian is determined to keep climbing. “Each weekend we’re getting better. Qatar is not always the easiest track, but it’s a big opportunity for us to show how far we’ve come. I’m confident we can take another step forward.”

With cooler air and smoother conditions under the floodlights, Marini is set to attack.

Mir: Speed to Results

Joan Mir knows exactly what’s missing from his 2025 story so far: race-day execution. The speed is there — Q2 appearances at every round prove it — but now it’s time to turn that pace into points.

“We’ve shown we have the speed. Now we need to finish the job,” Mir said. “Qatar has been a strong track for me before, and I’m ready to reset, stay focused, and fight at the front.”

After a tough run in Austin, Mir’s hunger to bounce back couldn’t be stronger.

Racing in the Heat of the Night

A night race changes everything. Riders and teams will adapt their schedules, resting during the day and hitting full throttle under Lusail’s iconic lights.

  • Sprint Race: Saturday, April 12 at 20:00 (local time)
  • Grand Prix: Sunday, April 13 at 20:00, spanning 22 laps

Despite racing under the stars, don’t expect cool temperatures — forecasts suggest some of the hottest conditions seen at the Qatar GP in years. Tire management and smart strategy could be just as crucial as outright speed.

Full Focus for Honda HRC Castrol Before the European Push

With Europe — and the intense mid-season grind — just around the corner, Qatar offers a vital chance for both riders to bank crucial points and momentum.

Honda HRC Castrol is ready. Luca Marini is dialed in. Joan Mir is hungry. And under the lights of Lusail, they’re aiming to shine.
