New Zealand-based electric motorcycle manufacturer FTN Motion is set to launch its Streetdog electric motorcycles in Australia this March. With an initial run of just 50 units, demand is already soaring as more than 40 bikes have been pre-ordered.

Strong Market Reception and Expansion

Founded in 2020, FTN Motion has rapidly established itself as a key player in the electric motorcycle market, selling over 200 units in New Zealand in limited production runs. The company made waves in 2021 when it sold out its first batch of 100 Streetdog50 motorcycles. Later on it repeated the success with a sell-out run of 50 Streetdog80 models earlier this year.

Now, with the Australian expansion, FTN Motion aims to tap into a market eager for sustainable and efficient urban mobility solutions.

The Streetdog Models: Performance and Features

FTN Motion’s two models, the Streetdog50 and Streetdog80, offer different specifications to suit various urban commuting needs:

  • Streetdog50: Comes with a price tag of $11,260 (including on-road costs). This model features a top speed of 50 km/h and a range of up to 100 km on a single battery charge.
  • Streetdog80: Starting price is $12,950 (including on-road costs). This variant reaches a top speed of 80 km/h and delivers a range of up to 80 km per charge.

Both models come with the option to install a second battery, extending their range to 180 km for the Streetdog50 and 140 km for the Streetdog80.

Pre-Orders and Upcoming Events

FTN Motion is offering potential buyers the chance to reserve their bike with a fully refundable $100 deposit, which also secures them a test ride before production begins in April. The company has announced that deliveries to Australian customers are expected to begin in July 2025.

To showcase its electric motorcycles, FTN Motion will participate in the Everything Electric Expo in Sydney from March 7-9. Additionally, test ride sessions will take place in Sydney from March 11-12 and in Melbourne from March 14-15.

A Sustainable Urban Mobility Solution

FTN Motion’s founder, Kendall Bristow, expressed excitement about the strong demand in Australia, noting the increasing need for efficient, eco-friendly urban transport options.

“With traffic congestion and parking becoming increasingly problematic, more people are looking for fast, fun, and environmentally friendly ways to get around. It’s exciting to see how many are embracing the Streetdog as a solution for urban travel,” said Bristow.

For those interested, both models are available for pre-order and configuration through FTN Motion’s official website. With the growing popularity of electric motorcycles and an increasing shift toward sustainable transportation, the Streetdog’s arrival in Australia marks an exciting step forward in urban mobility.
