Big news for Malaysian motorbike fans! The highly anticipated 2024 Honda CB350RS has finally launched, and it’s being sold for an impressive RM20,500 (excluding road tax, insurance, and registration).
Remember how it stole the show at the Petronas Malaysia MotoGP last year? Now it’s officially available on the market, marking its grand debut, and ready to hit the road!
This retro-styled beauty is built for comfort, perfect for cruising around town or tackling longer journeys. It taps into the current love for classic bikes here in Malaysia, going head-to-head with rivals like the Triumph Speed 400 and Royal Enfield Hunter 350. But with a price tag that undercuts the competition, the CB350RS could be the all-rounder to beat.
Speaking of buzz, this bike went viral after it surfaced on social media platform X (previously Twitter). I couldn’t resist checking it out in person at the Honda Big Wing Damansara. Let’s just say Rafique, the dream-selling salesman there and a brand manager, had me hooked. Now, let’s reveal the unique qualities of this motorcycle.
Classic Power with Modern Touches
The CB350RS does deliver a solid performance for a classic. Its air-cooled, single-cylinder 348cc engine with fuel injection puts out a claimed 20.8 hp and 30 Nm of torque.
The cool thing is that it uses a modern assist and slipper clutch paired with a 5-speed gearbox for a smooth ride. Consider it a revolutionized bike, with a classic design and some smart updates to stay relevant.
Safety first
Nissin calipers grip 310mm and 240mm discs front and rear, all backed by confidence-inspiring dual-channel ABS. You’ll be riding on wide-tread 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels wrapped in chunky 100/90 front and 150/70 rear tyres. This combination provides a modern look, a stable stance, and plenty of grip for those twisty roads.
Suspension duties are handled by non-adjustable telescopic forks in the front and preload-adjustable twin shocks in the rear. And for even more control, the CB350RS boasts Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), basically traction control you can switch on or off depending on the road conditions.
Don’t worry about bumps and scrapes, the CB350RS comes with a skid plate for added engine protection. And for those who appreciate the finer details, the pinstripes add a touch of class to the aesthetically crafted fuel tank.
Modern touches in a vintage shell
The sophisticated digital-analogue meter keeps things stylish while offering all the info you need, like torque control status, ABS activation, a side stand indicator with engine cut-off, gear position, and battery voltage.
Plus, it displays real-time fuel efficiency, average travel distance, and even a distance-to-empty mode, perfect for those longer cruises.
Secret to its smooth handling
The CB350RS utilizes a half-duplex cradle frame made from steel pipes. This frame design contributes to the bike’s soft steering feel.
By mounting the engine in a lower position within the frame, the weight distribution is optimized, lowering the centre of gravity. This translates to a more enjoyable riding experience with improved handling.
Turning heads effortlessly
The CB350RS isn’t just about function; it’s a looker too. The unique 7Y-shaped front alloy wheel grabs attention, while the LED headlamp and under-seat LED tail lamp with eye-shaped LED winkers add a modern touch.
The sporty grab rail and smoked black front and rear fenders complete the package, making the bike feel light and look sporty from every angle.
Weighing in at a manageable 179kg with a seat height of 800mm, the CB350RS is perfect for that relaxed, confident ride. Plus, the 15-litre fuel tank means you can cruise in style without worrying about constant gas station stops.
