The culmination of the Cub Prix 2023 in Batu Kawan, Penang, marked the conclusion of a series of exhilarating races.
The CP150 category stole the show, deciding the crucial second place. Akid Aziz, from PETRONAS SPRINTA YAMAHA – CKJ RACING, secured the top spot with a fast finish of 16:52.101.
But the spotlight turned to the fierce battle for second place. Ahmad Afif Amran (PETRONAS SPRINTA YAMAHA – CKJ RACING) faced off against Azroy Hakeem Anuar (HONDA YUZY ESTREMO TEAM).
The 20-lap race had fans on edge. Afif’s tenacity paid off as he stuck to his team’s plan, claiming second place in 16:52.290.
The duel between Afif and Azroy was thrilling. Afif’s strategy kept him slightly ahead. Azroy finished with determination in 16:59.069, 6.968 seconds behind Afif.
Afif, grateful for overcoming a tough season start, emphasized the fierce competition and the importance of being in the CP150 top 3.
He shared his race strategy, saying, “I strategized with my teammate. If he broke through, he’d push me to the front.
Creating a gap from Akid Aziz would favor Azroy due to his weight. So, I had to keep my position till the end.”
The CP150 final round showcased skill, strategy, and determination, embodying the essence of motorcycle racing.
