Honda Transalp to make a comeback later this year?

Honda Transalp to make a comeback later this year?

According to sources, Honda Transalp is expected to make a comeback during ECIMA 2021.

Honda first introduced the Transalp range back in the late 80s, however, the model range was discontinued later in 2012. The rumours on Honda reviving the Transalp has been going on for some time now. In case you missed the buzz, back in March 2021 Honda filed a new trademark for the name “Transalp” which sort of confirmed the arrival of a “modern” Honda Transalp.

According to the latest reports, the Honda Transalp is rumoured to make a comeback later this year. The Transalp is expected to be one of Honda’s top reveals at this year’s ECIMA  show in Milan.

Speaking of the bike, the Transalp is said to fill the gap in Honda’s current Adventure motorcycle lineup. Looking at the current lineup in detail, the Honda CB500X, NC750X and X-ADV which fall under the Honda Africa Twin CRF1100 are not entirely up to Honda Africa Twin’s offroad capability. We think the incoming Transalp would be more of a mid-range addition to the range-topping Africa Twin. Having said that, we expect the incoming Honda Transalp to be narrower, lighter and more compact than the Africa Twin CRF1100 and it would rival other Adventure bikes like the Yamaha Tenere 700, KTM 790/890 Adventure and Triumph Tiger 900.

According to sources from Japan, the Transalp is already under development and the model is expected to roll in with an 850cc engine. These are the details we know for now. If Honda is actually priming the Transalp for ECIMA reveal, we think more details would be revealed in the upcoming months.
