EICMA 2019 – MV Agusta Rush 1000

EICMA 2019 – MV Agusta Rush 1000

November 15, 2019

What happens when the mighty Brutale 1000 RR gets injected with steroids? The Rush 1000 is born! Here’s all the details on the new exotic naked from MV Agusta.

The so-called high-performance naked bikes are getting a lot of attention these days. Power figures and torque are getting higher than ever. Designers are going bolder than ever creating truly incredible motorcycles.

So, it’s only reasonable that motorcycle manufacturers show us what they can do in this segment. The latest exotic naked from MV Agusta is another example of what the Varese based brand is able to do.

More than a design exercise, the new Rush 1000 is a fantastic machine, a naked bike capable of going over 300 km/h!

The starting point for the Rush 1000 is the mighty Brutale 1000 RR. The engine is the same in-line four-cylinder with 998 cc. To extract no less than 208 hp at 13000 rpm, MV Agusta uses a combustion chamber and radial valves derived from Formula 1 technology.

Engine performance can be a little bit higher. When fitted with the non-homologated SC Project exhaust, completely made in titanium molded by hand, the Rush 1000 pumps out an incredible 212 hp!

But MV Agusta didn’t look only for F1 help. In fact, the titanium con-rods are derived from the ones used in MotoGP bikes. They’re lighter and resistant, perfect to reduce engine inertia. Also from MotoGP and as is done usually on high-performance MV bikes, the central distribution chain limits the camshaft twist at high rpm’s.

The integrated MVICS ignition and injection system has 8 injectors. The top ones are from Magneti Marelli and the lower ones from Mikuni. Mikuni also supplies the electronic ride-by-wire throttle. The Eldor EM2.0 ECU controls the electronic parameters.

The Rush 1000 offers the rider a choice of four riding modes, an 8-level adjustable traction control, anti-wheelie, cornering ABS with rear-wheel lift-up mitigation, and also a quickshift that works both up and down.

Design is inspired on drag bikes. For example, the rear wheel is made in forged aluminum. IT gets a carbon fiber cover to reduce drag. That same material is used on the tail of the Rush 1000. And also on the back cover of the headlight that is the same as the RVS #1.

Suspension duties are carried by the famous Öhlins Smart EC units. This means the Rush 1000 gets a NiX fork and a TTX rear shock. All the adjustments are made electronically. The Smart EC system offers a choice of three auto settings and three manual modes.

The brake system is sourced from specialists Brembo. The monoblock Stylema calipers bite on twin 320 mm discs.

Connectivity is also present on this Rush 1000. On the fully digital dashboard, MV Agusta includes a Bluetooth chip. This allows the rider to connect the smartphone to the bike. In turn, the rider gets all the information on the smartphone. And on the dashboard, the GPS indications appear to guide the rider to its destination.

MV Agusta says that the new Rush 1000 won’t be a special limited edition. The production will start “soon” and the price should put this bike between the Brutale 1000 RR and the Brutale 1000 Serie Oro.

With more than ten years as a motorcycle journalist, i enjoy everything that has to do with two-wheels. I'm a fan of sport bikes and i prefer riding them on a racetrack, but give me a road filled with corners and good asphalt and i'll be there to have some fun!
