SEAT eScooter concept to be unveiled Barcelona this month

SEAT eScooter concept to be unveiled Barcelona this month

The SEAT eScooter is actually the brand’s first-ever e-motorcycle!

Spanish automaker SEAT is aiming to enter the electric motorcycle segment by launching its latest e-bike by 2020. The brand has debuted its first e-scooter in Ireland and is planning to expand its range with new products. The new bike concept will be making its first-ever appearance at the Barcelona Smart City Expo World Congress on November 19. Despite it being an e-bike, the name of the bike brings about some confusion. It is s called the SEAT eScooter.

The SEAT eScooter will feature an equivalent of a 125cc petrol-powered motorcycle. This is part of its urban mobility strategy. SEAT and Barcelona-based e-bike maker Silence will be joining hands in developing this bike.

“The constant growth of large cities makes achieving efficient mobility one of the main challenges to overcome,” said SEAT President Luca de Meo as quoted from Silicon Republic.

“Today we are taking a further step in our urban micro-mobility strategy by confirming the launch of the first eScooter in the history of the brand.”

Thus far, SEAT has only released a single teaser image. The image depicts what appears to be the rear end of the bike. It then includes the passenger handles above the brake-light signature. The triangular section in the centre resembles that used on the Minimo.

On the other hand, SEAT is intending to commence production of the Minimo in 2021. There also have been talks between SEAT and third parties on whether an external company will build the quadricycle on its behalf.
