The Lightning Strike has finally struck us yesterday after heaps of teasers. Lightning Motorcycles debuts its long-awaited electric motorcycle- the Strike bike- and has been taking on the limelight ever since. The Lightning Strike comes with three variants namely the standard, mid-range and carbon edition. The bikes have an option of a 200 mile-range and have a top speed of 150mph. All the variants are able to churn out 180 lb-ft of torque at zero RPM. top-left Strike Standard The standard Strike features a 10kWh battery and comes with a 35-minute DC fast-charge time. It is priced at approximately $13,000. It can deliver up to 90hp and tips the scale at 455 lbs. Strike Mid-Range The mid-range variant also churns out 90hp, this time with its 15kWh battery. The bike weighs about 465 lbs and is priced approximately $17,000. Strike Carbon Edition The Strike carbon has an upsized battery of 20kWh and produces 120hp, much higher than its counterparts. It is much heavier, capping its weight at 485lbs. It bears a price tag of approximately $20,000. As previously mentioned, the bike has undergone its assembly at Lightning’s new facility in San Jose, California. The components, however, stem from all over the world. The electric bike segment, dominated by top guns such as Zero Motorcycles, Alta Motors and Energica, has been garnering the likes of big brands such as Harley-Davidson and there are speculations that Triumph may be in the works of one of its own. The Lightning Strike will be competing with models such as the Harley-Davidson Livewire and even the Energica Ego. front-tire Much of the electric bike startups have been working on producing models that are able to balance the price and performance. Lightning Motorcycles were able to do so with the Strike bike alongside hoping to appeal to the younger generation bike enthusiasts. Lightning Motorcycles has been taking in orders for the Strike for a few months now.
