KTM’s new Euro5 compliant Super Duke R spied during testing

KTM’s new Euro5 compliant Super Duke R spied during testing

Many brands are coming up with new products for the year and KTM is one of them. KTM, which launched their 1290 Super Duke R in 2016, is coming back with new bikes to comply with the new emissions regulations. In fact, spy shots of the bike were spotted.

The Euro5 regulations will be arriving by January 2020 and the brand is certainly preparing for new and upgraded motorcycles to achieve it. The bikes will have approximately 30% less emissions than the current Euro4 rules with the new engines.

It is apparent to some that KTM will be keeping its 170bhp+ engines but the radiator is likely to increase in size considering that the engine will be running very lean and hot. There is also a new giant catalytic converter. KTM has also continued using the  LC8 V-Twin.

Not to mention, the exterior of the bike is rather different now in terms of the frame shape. The main body, just like the current bike, is steel trellis. The subframe of the bike is covered with aluminum instead of the steel trellis. It can be said that the bike would be much lighter compared to before.

Major changes can be seen in the single-sided swingarm and suspension as the current Super Duke R has a direct mount shock and the new bike appears to have a suspension linkage. Riders will have options for adjusting the rear end characteristics and gives them room for a new exhaust. Its swingarm also has a more heavily braced where the linkage is to increase stiffness.

KTM would likely reveal the model earliest by November 2019 in the EICMA Show and is expected to arrive in dealers by spring 2020.
