The Gibbs Biski is a motorcycle you can ride on water all day, every day

The Gibbs Biski is a motorcycle you can ride on water all day, every day

Just in case you think this is a prank of some sort, let us reassure you that it’s not. Introducing the Gibbs Biski – and yes, the name is pretty self-explanatory as to what this machine is capable of doing.

Designed to traverse both land and water with ease, the amphibious vehicle is able to juggle its duties at the simple push of a button. According to the manufacturer, the transition time is said to take “less than 5 seconds” between jet-ski and motorcycle. As a result, unfamiliar operators of the Gibbs Biski may panic for a moment or two as the motorcycle begins sinking initially before being able to work on water.

The Gibbs Biski is part of the core line-up of amphibious vehicles developed by New Zealand-based entrepreneur Alan Gibbs. The Kiwi firm is the first of its kind to design and manufacture an amphibious vehicle that is fully-homologated for road use and is capable of reaching speed of up to 50 km/h on water.

In the case of the Gibbs Biski, performance numbers include a top speed of 130 km/h and 60 km/h on land and water, respectively. The Biski is powered by a twin-cylinder petrol engine that pumps out a total of 55 hp – drive is sent to the rear wheels and via a Gibbs custom dual-jet propulsion system for marine journeys.

Other details of the Gibbs Biski include a 20-litre fuel tank (so you don’t find yourself stranded in the middle of a lake), a curb weight of 228 kg and “marine navigation lighting.” Dimensions include a length of 2,350 mm, a width of 950 mm (excluding mirrors), a wheelbase of 1,790 mm and a ground clearance of 150 mm.
