Honda HRC has confirmed that Somkiat Chantra will remain with the team for the 2027 FIM Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK) season.
The renewal means Chantra will continue alongside British rider Jake Dixon, with Honda HRC retaining an unchanged rider line-up as it continues developing its WorldSBK project.
Chantra is currently in his first season competing in WorldSBK, having made the switch to the championship with Honda HRC. The move has seen the Thai rider adapt to a new championship, new circuits and the Honda CBR1000RR-R SP.
Speaking about the renewal, Chantra said he was pleased to continue with Honda HRC for another season.
“I am very happy to continue with Honda HRC in WorldSBK for another season. This year has been a new challenge for me, with a new championship, a new bike and many new tracks to learn, but step by step I have gained experience and a better understanding of the CBR1000RR-R SP,” said Chantra.
“I really appreciate the trust that Honda HRC continues to place in me, and I want to thank the team for all their hard work and support. I feel that we still have great potential to improve together, and I am very motivated to keep working, make further progress and achieve stronger results in 2027.”
Honda HRC General Manager Taichi Honda said Chantra’s approach to his debut WorldSBK season had been a key factor in the decision to continue working together.
“We are very pleased to continue with Somkiat for the 2027 season. This year he has approached his first WorldSBK season with great commitment and a very positive attitude, working closely with the team and our engineers as he has adapted to a new championship,” said Taichi.
He added that Honda HRC believes there is still considerable potential for Chantra and the team to develop together.
“We believe there is still significant potential to develop together, and the continuity of our rider line-up will be important as Honda HRC continues to work on strengthening our WorldSBK project.”
With Chantra and Dixon confirmed for 2027, Honda HRC will enter its next WorldSBK campaign with continuity in its rider line-up as the team looks to build on its ongoing development of the CBR1000RR-R SP.
