Thunder Motorcycle has unveiled the FTS250, a new model that breaks away from its usual cruiser-style lineup. Unlike models such as the Thunder Custom LS250-S, which come in Hardtail and Softail variants, the FTS250 adopts a flat-track design with a more minimal and sporty appearance.
This model marks a first for the brand by using a single-cylinder engine instead of the traditional V-Twin setup. The 249cc engine, with a bore and stroke of 72mm x 61.2mm, produces up to 29hp at 9,500rpm and 22.5Nm of torque at 7,200rpm. Thunder claims the bike can reach a top speed of around 120km/h, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.
CFMOTO supplies the engine, using the same unit found in the CFMoto 250SR Lite to ensure proven performance and reliability. In terms of hardware, the FTS250 comes equipped with 41mm front forks and a rear monoshock suspension. TAISKO axial calipers handle braking, using a 260mm front disc and a 220mm rear disc, with dual-channel ABS included as standard.
Other features include a digital LCD instrument panel, full LED lighting, and a 10.2-litre fuel tank. The motorcycle weighs 127kg and has a seat height of 790mm, making it accessible for a wide range of riders.
Designed with minimalism in mind, the FTS250 encourages customization, giving riders the freedom to modify the bike according to their preferences. With its unique styling and new engine platform, the FTS250 represents a fresh direction for Thunder Motorcycle in the small-displacement segment.
