KTM has officially revealed the ultimate 990 RC R Track, a new circuit-only machine designed specifically for track use. The model joins the road-going KTM 990 RC R that was introduced for public sale in October last year, but the Track edition is purpose-built for racing and closed-circuit performance.
Described by KTM as a “pure-bred non-street legal supersport motorcycle,” the 990 RC R Track removes typical road equipment such as headlights, mirrors and the side stand. In their place is a race-focused configuration aimed at delivering a high-performance machine that remains accessible for amateur racers.
The motorcycle features injected plastic race fairings, making it easier for teams and riders to apply personal decals and carry out quick replacements when needed. A taller windscreen is also fitted to accommodate a full race tuck, while the cockpit has been simplified with track-focused controls and instrumentation. A wet weather taillight and paddock stand are included as standard.

Powering the RC R Track is the same LC8c parallel-twin DOHC engine used in the road-legal model, but with slightly increased output. The track variant produces 133 hp, compared with 126 hp from the standard version, along with 105 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm.
For maximum track performance, the bike is equipped with Michelin Power Slick tyres sized 120/70-R17 at the front and 190/55-R17 at the rear. Suspension duties are handled by fully adjustable WP APEX components, with settings developed through testing at major racing circuits across Europe.
The RC R Track is also two kilograms lighter than the road-going model’s 195 kg wet weight, improving agility and acceleration on track. Riders can select from three customizable track riding modes, allowing adjustment of throttle response, traction control, slip control, anti-wheelie, launch control and engine braking.

Additional track-focused features include a pit limiter, KTM Quickshifter+ and a 4.2-inch full-colour TFT display that shows essential data including lap times. Unlike the road version, the Track edition does not include ABS, while braking is handled by 320 mm Brembo HyPure discs with twin four-piston calipers at the front and a 240 mm rear disc.
The bike carries 15.7 litres of fuel and has a seat height of 857 mm, aligning with its aggressive racing ergonomics.

The 990 RC R Track is specifically designed for participation in the KTM 990 RC R Cup, a cost-controlled six-round European racing championship aimed at amateur riders.
According to Riaan Neveling, the new model represents KTM’s latest evolution in track-focused performance.
“The beauty of the KTM 990 RC R was the ease with which we could make only a few adjustments and have the KTM 990 RC R Track ready to go,” he said.
“Our history and achievements on asphalt informed the development of the KTM 990 RC R Track and the wider RC R range. We wanted to build a motorcycle that truly gets riders’ heart rates racing.”

With its race-ready specification and direct link to a dedicated racing series, the 990 RC R Track reinforces KTM’s commitment to delivering accessible performance machines for track enthusiasts and aspiring racers.
