Thousands of tourists and riders gathered in Jinyun County, Zhejiang Province, from March 24 to 29, 2026, for the Huangdi Jinyun Motorcycle Carnival Week, the first stop on the “Qiji China” circuit for the Year of the Horse. Over 5,000 motorcycle enthusiasts from across China rode through the otherworldly landscapes of Xiandu, turning green mountains and clear waters into a dynamic canvas of culture, adventure, and high-octane passion. The event showcased Jinyun as a safe and vibrant destination for riders, blending the ancient Huangdi heritage with modern sports and tourism.

Six Years of Building a National Benchmark

The 2026 carnival reflected six years of dedicated efforts to develop Jinyun as a hub for motorcycle tourism. Its innovative integration of culture, scenic beauty, and sporting adventure earned the project recognition as a 2025 Premium Sports Tourism Project in the Yangtze River Delta. The “Jinyun Model” has since become a national benchmark for motorcycle tourism, combining traditional highlights with new experiences to create a diverse, multifaceted itinerary for riders.

During the carnival, the core motorcycle parade guided participants through Xiandu’s picturesque routes and rural villages, transforming the county into a moving gallery. Riders also enjoyed cultural markets, film screenings, and local culinary experiences, supporting regional products and crafts while enriching the tourism offering.

Tradition Meets Modern Trends

A standout feature was the “Xuanyuan Sacrifice Ritual,” a national intangible cultural heritage event. Three hundred riders in professional gear paid homage to Huangdi, the legendary ancestor of Chinese civilization, creating a striking blend of modern motorcycle culture and ancient tradition. Complementing this were interactive experiences such as cultural markets and co-branded products like the “Huangdi Blessing” motorcycle backpack, combining protective symbolism with practical use for riders.

Infrastructure for the Modern Rider

To support long-term growth, Jinyun has developed a comprehensive motorcycle tourism ecosystem. Over 300 km of premium riding routes now link 26 service stations, connecting villages, rivers, and cultural sites. Riders used “motorcycle tourism passports” to check in at stations, boosting local businesses and attracting visitors to previously overlooked areas.

Notable successes included:

  • Tiantang Village Station: Smart tourism facilities and a self-service photography project drew visitors.
  • Lianhua Fishing Fun Station: Nearly 10,000 tourists revived the local economy.
  • Dayuan Town Qiji Station: A specialty yellow tea drink became a popular souvenir.

A groundbreaking high-speed rail motorcycle station at Jinyun High-Speed Rail Station also enabled riders from distant provinces to combine rail travel with motorcycle touring, removing logistical barriers and promoting environmentally conscious riding through the “Civilized Riding Proposal.”

A Model for Cultural Tourism and Economic Growth

The Huangdi Motorcycle Carnival has evolved into a county-wide cultural tourism IP. It promotes Jinyun as “China’s Premier Motorcycle-Tourism-Friendly City,” strengthens the local brand, and demonstrates how cultural heritage, modern tourism, and ecological resources can drive high-quality development. The “Jinyun Model” stands as a blueprint for integrating tradition, innovation, and adventure, inspiring both domestic and international visitors.
