Factory Honda Racing Corporation WorldSBK rookie Jake Dixon has successfully undergone surgery in Melbourne following his testing crash at Phillip Island.
The former Moto2 title contender was ruled out of his WorldSBK debut at the season-opening Australian round after fracturing his left wrist during Tuesday’s final day of pre-season testing at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit. The incident occurred at Turn 11 on his first flying lap of the morning.
Multiple Fractures Confirmed
In an updated statement, HRC revealed that Dixon sustained “multiple fractures to his left wrist and hand” in the crash.
“Following an initial medical assessment at the circuit, Dixon was transported to Melbourne, where further examinations confirmed the need for surgical intervention to stabilise the fractures,” the team stated.
“The procedure was completed successfully without complications. Further assessment in the coming weeks will help to clarify the timeline for Dixon’s recovery.
“The Honda HRC team will provide further updates on Jake Dixon’s condition in due course.”
The surgery was carried out at The Avenue Hospital in Melbourne, with no complications reported.
Double Blow for HRC
Dixon’s absence marked the second setback for the Honda squad ahead of the Australian round. His team-mate and fellow WorldSBK rookie Somkiat Chantra remains sidelined due to a training injury.
Both riders now have approximately one month to recover before round two of the 2026 WorldSBK season at Algarve International Circuit.
In their absence, wild-card entry Ryan Vickers emerged as Honda’s leading rider during opening practice at Phillip Island, finishing 15th on the timesheets.
For Dixon, the focus now shifts entirely to rehabilitation as he races against time to make his long-awaited HRC WorldSBK debut in Portugal.
