Since 2023, we have known that Malaysia has a second national motorcycle brand, called AFAZ. Its product launch into the market has been delayed for a long time, but this time it is really close because the first model from the brand, called the Kencana Sport 115. The bike has also been given to all the media and local influencers for testing, before the official launch. The price for the Kencana Sport is RM5,799.
Having just picked it up a few days ago, this motorcycle deserves the attention of those looking for a beginner or even for small town roads, villagers and maybe for the farmers to go to their kebun and dusun. In addition to the blue color, there is also a red color for this Kencana Sport.
AFAZ is a new brand introduced by AFY Mobility Industries (AMI) in collaboration with Suzuki. As a result, the Kencana Sport 115 uses the same engine from the Suzuki Smash Fi and the overall design is also similar to the Smash Fi marketed in other world markets.

This Kencana Sport is the first product that can be offered to Malaysian consumers. It uses the Suzuki Smash Fi as its base, including the engine, which is a 113 cc SOHC single-cylinder unit with fuel injection that is capable of producing 9.1 hp at 7,500 rpm and 9.0 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. Power is transferred from the engine to the rear wheel via a four-speed manual transmission and chain, which has a full cover.
However, what makes this bike special is that AFAZ has changed its appearance, using a design they developed in-house, and it has been upgraded compared to the Smash Fi. The front light is now an LED unit, complete with DRLs and the AFAZ lettering inside, while at the rear, the LED lighting creates a shape resembling the letter A, possibly related to the brand.

From the information we received, the Kencana Sport uses 40% locally produced materials and this includes body panels, exhaust, rims and exhaust, while the engine and basic frame come from several Suzuki factories around Southeast Asia.
The meter panel still uses the same Suzuki Smash and still has the Suzuki logo on it. This unit is just the usual analog type for speed and fuel level, but also displays other important information such as gear position, engine warning and high beam.
This bike doesn’t use the Sport name for nothing. AFAZ upgraded the two rear shock absorbers with Kayaba units, and the firmness is really noticeable. Then, in its original state, the exhaust of this bike already has a sporty sound, not completely silent. It is clearly audible, not only when accelerating, but also when idling and slowing down the bike.

The Kencana Sport’s fuel tank has a capacity of 4.2 litres. It is located under the seat, next to a small space that is enough to fit a raincoat or perhaps other necessities. Braking duties are handled by a disc unit with Nissin calipers at the front, and a drum unit at the rear.
All the important information about the AFAZ Kencana Sport has been revealed, but we still don’t know exactly when it will be officially launched. It’s likely at the end of this month, but the information we received is that it is already at AFAZ motorcycle dealerships nationwide. If you are interested, you can come in and take a look. Stay tuned for a test ride report, after we’ve gathered some important feedback.
