The final round of the España Superbike Championship (ESBK) marked a thrilling conclusion to the 2025 season for Malaysian rider Qabil Irfan, who showcased outstanding determination to secure the ESBK Talent Overall Champion title. Competing against some of Europe’s most promising young riders, Qabil’s performance at Jerez reflected his skill, focus, and resilience throughout the year.

A Weekend of Challenges and Comebacks

Qabil began the weekend strongly in FP1 and FP2, maintaining a consistent race pace that placed him among the top contenders. However, qualifying brought new challenges when wet weather and technical issues with his bike prevented him from showing his full potential, forcing him to start Race 1 from 17th position on the grid.

Despite the setback, Qabil’s determination never wavered. Under clear skies on race day, he launched off the line with an explosive start, climbing to ninth place by Turn 1. Within just two laps, he was battling with the leading group, displaying sharp overtaking and confidence on track. The race ended in a dramatic photo finish, with Qabil clinching third place, earning a hard-fought and well-deserved podium finish.

Fighting Hard in Race 2

Starting third on the grid for Race 2, Qabil once again delivered a strong and strategic ride. The battle at the front was intense, with constant lead changes and tight racing among the top riders. Qabil demonstrated excellent racecraft, frequently taking the lead and maintaining composure in a field of aggressive competitors.

As the laps unfolded, a 10-rider pack fought wheel-to-wheel for the podium. Qabil pushed hard until the final corner, eventually finishing fourth, narrowly missing the top three. However, his consistency across both races was enough to secure the 2025 ESBK Talent Overall Championship, marking a career-defining achievement.

A Champion’s Season

Qabil Irfan’s 2025 season was nothing short of exceptional. Over the year, he collected six race wins, two second places, and three third-place finishes, showcasing his consistency and talent at every round. His performance not only highlights his growth as a young racer but also underscores Malaysia’s rising presence in international motorsport.

Reflecting on his final race weekend, Qabil shared: “Race 2 was one of the toughest races of the season. I missed the podium, but it was one of the most enjoyable races I’ve had this year because the riders were very fast and aggressive. It was a good experience for me to battle with them until the end. I want to thank KBS, SIC, Terengganu Inc, RCB, ZK Racing, and all my sponsors and supporters for their continuous support throughout this season.”

Team Manager Zulfahmi Khairuddin praised Qabil’s effort and consistency that led to his championship victory: “Qabil has shown great improvement throughout the season. His hard work, focus, and determination have paid off with this championship title. I’m very proud of his progress and grateful to the VHC team for their effort and teamwork all year. This title is a result of everyone’s dedication and passion.”

Looking Ahead

Qabil’s 2025 ESBK Talent Championship title marks a major milestone in his racing journey. The young Malaysian’s victory at Jerez not only cements his status as a promising talent in the European racing scene but also signals a bright future ahead. As he looks to 2026, Qabil aims to continue developing his skills and representing Malaysia proudly on the international stage.
