Marc Márquez has once again etched his name in MotoGP history by winning the 2025 BMW M Award, marking an unprecedented eighth triumph in the prestigious competition for the fastest qualifier of the season. The Spaniard had previously dominated the award between 2013 and 2019 with seven consecutive victories and has now returned to claim the top spot after several challenging years.
Márquez received his prize, the high-performance BMW M2 CS, following the final qualifying session of the season at Valencia, Spain. The keys were presented by Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of MotoGP rights holder Dorna Sports, and Axel Mittler, Marketing Manager at BMW M GmbH.
The 2025 season saw Márquez make a remarkable comeback, clinching the world championship title early in Japan at the 17th of 22 rounds. Despite missing the final four races due to injury, his dominance in qualifying, eight pole positions and five additional front-row starts, secured him a total of 351 points, eight ahead of his brother Álex Márquez, who finished second.

The BMW M Award, presented annually since 2003, rewards the rider who accumulates the most points across qualifying sessions, with the winner receiving an exclusive BMW M high-performance vehicle.
Carmelo Ezpeleta said, “Congratulations to Marc Márquez. He has made an impressive comeback this season and once again demonstrated why he is one of the greatest MotoGP riders of all time. His performance and talent have been outstanding, and he truly deserves the BMW M Award this season.”
Axel Mittler added, “What Marc Márquez has shown this season was simply incredible. Seven consecutive victories were already historic, but his eighth BMW M Award triumph is truly remarkable, especially considering that even his injury couldn’t stop him from winning. We are delighted to add our new BMW M2 CS to Marc’s collection of BMW M Award winners’ cars.”

Márquez reflected on his achievement, saying, “It took a few years, but I’m really happy to see my name back on the list of BMW M Award winners. This season has been a dream, even though I didn’t imagine it ending with a shoulder injury. It’s great to be recognized once again as the fastest qualifier, for the eighth time! I promised my brother Álex he’ll get to drive the car too. Now it’s time for the winter break, and my goal for 2026 is clear: to win the world championship, and this award, again!”
The 2025 winner’s car, the BMW M2 CS, is the latest special model from BMW M GmbH, boasting a high-revving straight-six engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology that delivers 530 hp. The rear-wheel-drive sports car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds and features extensive use of carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) for both exterior and interior components, making it the lightest M2 of the current generation.
Before Márquez’s record-extending eighth victory, Francesco Bagnaia had won the award for the previous three seasons. Past winners of the BMW M Award also include MotoGP legends such as Valentino Rossi, Casey Stoner, Jorge Lorenzo, Fabio Quartararo, Sete Gibernau, and Nicky Hayden.
