Following the dramatic final-lap collision in Race 2 of the ASB1000 class during Round 5 of the 2025 FIM Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) at the Sepang International Circuit, both Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) Racing Team and Honda Racing Malaysia have officially released statements addressing the incident between riders Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah and Muhammad Zaqhwan Zaidi.
According to the official statement released by JDT Racing Team, the Race Direction has completed a thorough investigation into the incident and has imposed appropriate penalties in accordance with championship regulations.
The team further explained that both parties — JDT Racing Team and Honda Racing Malaysia — have reached an amicable resolution, emphasizing that the incident was unintentional and stemmed from intense, competitive on-track conditions, which are part and parcel of motorsport racing.
“Both teams maintain mutual respect and professionalism. The incident was deemed unintentional, arising from the highly competitive nature of the race,” the statement read.
JDT Racing Team also reaffirmed their commitment to safety, integrity, and sportsmanship, noting that they will continue to work closely with race organizers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism in the sport.
The team also called upon Malaysian motorsport fans to continue showing their support for local riders competing in the championship, as they represent the nation with pride and determination on the Asian stage.

“Following the incident involving Zaqhwan Zaidi (Honda Racing Malaysia) and Hafizh Syahrin (JDT Racing Team) during ASB1000 Race 2 of the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship 2025, we wish to inform that the matter has been thoroughly reviewed and resolved by Race Direction. Appropriate penalties have been issued in accordance with championship regulations.
Both Honda Racing Malaysia and JDT Racing Team have since resolved the matter amicably, maintaining mutual respect and professionalism between teams and riders. We continue our support to all Malaysian riders competing with the spirit of Semangat Impian.”
The incident occurred during a crucial final-lap battle for the lead, which saw both riders make contact and crash out of contention, paving the way for Azroy Hakeem Anuar of Idemitsu Honda Racing Malaysia to secure a sensational victory.
With the matter now settled, both JDT Racing Team and Honda Racing Malaysia shift their focus to the final round at Buriram’s Chang International Circuit, where the ASB1000 title fight will reach its thrilling conclusion.
