Savic C-Series: Australia’s Silent Powerhouse

Savic C-Series: Australia’s Silent Powerhouse

Australia’s Savic C-Series proves electric bikes can be fast and stylish, redefining what it means to ride without the roar.

Australia isn’t exactly the first place you’d expect an electric motorcycle revolution to begin, not in a country where the sound of a big twin or screaming inline-four is basically the national anthem. But Savic Motorcycles, a Melbourne-based start-up, is proving that the future doesn’t have to rumble to be exciting.

Founded by Dennis Savic, an engineer with a vision for cleaner, smarter motorcycling, the company’s C-Series is rewriting what an Aussie-built bike can be. Designed in partnership with veteran designer David Hendroff, it’s a homegrown machine that dares to be different, equal parts futuristic and familiar.

Built to Shock (Quietly)

At first glance, the C-Series looks like something out of a sci-fi movie, part café racer, part spaceship. The exposed battery pack and single-sided swingarm give it a raw, purposeful aesthetic, while its minimal bodywork shows off the tech underneath rather than hiding it. And that’s kind of the point.

Under the skin sits a 16.2kWh lithium-ion battery powering a 60kW motor that delivers a ridiculous 200Nm of torque. That’s right: more twist than many cars, and enough to send the C-Series from 0–100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds. The power delivery is instant and eerily smooth: no gears, no clutch, no drama. Just twist and go.

Charging is old-school simple: plug it into a standard wall socket for an overnight top-up, or a 15-amp outlet for a 4-hour 80% charge. Savic deliberately skipped fast DC charging to keep the bike’s weight reasonable; it already tips the scales at around 280kg.

Riding the Future

Despite the numbers, the C-Series isn’t intimidating. The low 780mm seat and balanced geometry make it surprisingly manageable, even for shorter riders. In traffic, it’s whisper-quiet but lightning-quick, the kind of stealth speed that makes you grin like you’re getting away with something.

Switch it to Sport mode, and it’s a different animal, all 200Nm on tap, instant torque and acceleration that feels endless. There’s no exhaust note to announce it, but the rush is absolutely real.

Developed with input from Aussie racer Jed Metcher, the suspension setup is firm but composed, keeping the bike stable when you lean into corners. You won’t mistake it for a track weapon, but as a high-performance commuter or weekend toy, it’s genuinely satisfying.

Quiet Confidence

Riding the Savic is as much about the experience as the message. You glide through city streets with zero emissions, no clutch to feather, and a head-turning design that whispers rather than shouts. People notice, not because of the noise, but because they can’t quite believe an electric bike can look this cool.

Sure, it’s not cheap, prices start around AUD $30,000 (approx. RM93,000), and it lacks some modern features like traction control or DC fast charging. But you’ll never repurchase petrol, maintenance is minimal, and it’s proudly engineered and built right here in Australia.

Verdict

The Savic C-Series is proof that electric motorcycles don’t have to be dull or soulless. It’s fast, beautifully built, and packed with Aussie ingenuity. It won’t replace the throaty roar of a V-twin anytime soon, but it might just convince a few diehards that silence can be thrilling too.
