Norton Motorcycles has officially ended production of the Commando 961, the V4SV sportbike, and the V4CR café racer, marking the close of a storied chapter in its history. The move clears the path for an all-new product lineup to be unveiled on November 4 at EICMA 2025, under the stewardship of its new owner, TVS Motor Company.
End of an Era
The Commando 961, long celebrated as Norton’s retro-standard flagship, will soon roll off the line for the last time, with all remaining units already allocated to dealers. The V4SV and V4CR had already completed their production runs earlier this year. Dealers are reporting strong demand, with waiting lists for the last Commando deliveries and a handful of collectable final units being reserved for dedicated collectors.
At the company’s Solihull factory in the U.K., production has now fully transitioned to Norton’s new models, which will spearhead a bold resurgence for the brand. Norton has also wiped its Instagram feed, replacing images of the outgoing models with teasers hinting at its next-generation lineup.
A Fresh Identity Under TVS
The new chapter for Norton comes after years of turbulence under its previous ownership. Since TVS Motor Company acquired the marque in April 2020, the Indian powerhouse has invested heavily in infrastructure, design, and engineering expertise.
As reported earlier this year, Norton has filed trademarks for a modernised version of its iconic script logo. Early teasers suggest the new machines will blend Norton’s classic styling cues with futuristic design elements, reflecting a fresh design language and expansion into new market segments.
Executive Vision
Norton’s Executive Director, Richard Arnold, emphasised the significance of the transition:
“The Norton V4SV, V4CR and Commando 961 are revered the world over as the latest in a long line of iconic Norton motorcycles. As one chapter ends, another begins and the waiting is now almost over to reveal our exciting future. Norton’s rich and storied history has always been built on a forward-thinking mindset and our resurgence reflects a bold vision for these legendary British motorcycles.”
Looking Ahead
The discontinuation of Norton’s current range sets the stage for a highly anticipated reveal at EICMA 2025, where the company will unveil its all-new portfolio. With the backing of one of the world’s largest motorcycle manufacturers, Norton appears poised for a global resurgence, rooted in its heritage but driven by innovation.
For collectors, the end of the V4SV, V4CR, and Commando 961 represents the last chance to secure modern classics. For the wider motorcycle world, it signals the rebirth of an iconic British brand with ambitious plans for the future.
