Beachman Debuts ’64 LM Electric Motorcycle

Canada’s Beachman Motor Company gains global manufacturer status and launches the retro-styled, road-legal ’64 LM electric motorcycle ahead of U.S. and European expansion.

Toronto-based Beachman Motor Company has achieved a milestone that sets it apart in Canada’s electric mobility landscape. The young startup has secured both a Canadian federal motorcycle manufacturer’s licence and certification from SAE International, officially granting it status as a recognised motorcycle maker and clearing the path for global expansion.

First Stop: Canada, Then the World

With the approvals in place, Beachman has launched its first road-legal motorcycle, the ’64 LM (Light Motorcycle). Inspired by the retro styling of the company’s popular 64 E-Bike but dropping the pedals, the ’64 LM reaches a top speed of 70 km/h (43 mph) and is now available to order in Canada. U.S. market entry is next on the list, with European sales planned once American certification is secured.

Building a Global Electric Brand

Co-founder and CEO Ben Taylor called the licence approval “an achievement four years in the making,” adding that the ’64 LM is “the bike we’ve always wanted to build, one with no compromises.” Taylor emphasised that Beachman’s mission goes beyond selling motorcycles:

Beachman has also opened a new round of investment to fund its growth as it pursues the goal of becoming a global player in electric mobility.

A Rare Canadian Success Story

While many electric startups struggle to stay afloat, Beachman’s early success signals a fresh chapter for Canadian vehicle manufacturing. By combining classic design with a modern electric drivetrain and keeping production local, the company aims to prove that homegrown innovation can compete on the world stage.
