Just over two years after entering the small bike segment with the Speed 400, Triumph has introduced the Thruxton 400, a new addition to its iconic cafe racer lineup. Built on the same proven platform as the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X, the Thruxton 400 delivers distinctive modern-classic styling without a premium price tag.
A Familiar but Fresh Design
The Thruxton 400 closely resembles the Speed Triple 1200 RR, with a semi-faired front and sporty stance.
It features a half fairing, round headlamp, clip-on handlebars with bar-end mirrors, a pillion cowl, and a slim tail lamp. Four striped paint schemes enhance its racing appeal, while the lower handlebars create a more engaged, forward-leaning riding position.

Proven Underpinnings, Accessible Performance
The Thruxton 400 houses Triumph’s 398cc single-cylinder engine. It is capable of producing 42 hp at 9,000 rpm and 27.5 lb.ft (37.5 Nm) of torque. It’s paired with a six-speed gearbox, slip-and-assist clutch, and ride-by-wire throttle for smooth control. A rear sprocket with two fewer teeth should increase top speed over the Speed 400, trading a touch of acceleration for extra cruising ability.
Suspension comes from 43 mm upside-down forks with slightly more travel than the Speed 400, and a rear mono-shock. It rolls on 17-inch alloy wheels shod with 110/70 R17 front and 150/60 R17 rear tires.
Lightweight and Beginner-Friendly
With a low 31.2-inch (795 mm) seat height and a wet weight of just 403 lbs (183 kg), the Thruxton 400 is approachable for newer riders and fun for experienced ones. The chassis, already proven in the Speed 400, offers nimble handling and confidence-inspiring stability.

Affordable Classic Style
The Thruxton 400 debuts in India at INR 274,000 (around RM15,500.00), slightly above the Speed 400’s local pricing.
A Platform Built for Fun
The Thruxton 400’s blend of style, approachability, and performance makes it a standout in the entry-to-mid-capacity cafe racer category. It offers enough power and refinement to thrill, while remaining forgiving for riders still building confidence. Combined with Triumph’s quality engineering and the bike’s timeless look, it’s a package that could appeal to both new riders and cafe racer enthusiasts.
