After a three-week summer hiatus, Honda HRC Castrol riders Luca Marini and Joan Mir are primed for the restart of the 2025 MotoGP season at the Red Bull Ring, Austria. The Spielberg circuit will host the much-anticipated return, marking the start of an intense five doubleheader run to close out the year.

At just 4.35 kilometres and 11 corners, the Red Bull Ring looks deceptively simple on paper. The long straights invite speed, but the heavy braking zones demand precision. Hard acceleration out of the bends adds to the challenge, making it one of the trickiest circuits on the calendar. The track has delivered countless memorable battles in recent years. With the grid returning fresh and eager, fans can expect the action to be just as fierce this time.

Marini Targets Top Ten Charge

Luca Marini arrives in Austria as the only rider to have scored points in every race of the 2025 season so far. The Italian has used the break to recover and rebuild fitness, and now aims to close the gap to the top ten in the championship standings.

“I have had a good three weeks recovering more and more, and I am feeling really good,” Marini said. “Austria is all about heavy braking and accelerating, and it will be a good chance to see where everyone stands after the break with upgrades. I’m looking forward to seeing the team again and continuing to push the Honda RC213V forward.”

Mir Looks to Revive Strong Spielberg Form

On the other side of the garage, Joan Mir is eyeing a return to his top-ten pace. The Spaniard showed competitive speed earlier in the season and has fond memories of Spielberg. He finished second there in both 2020 and 2021.

“The break has been good to recharge and reset after some tough moments earlier in the year,” Mir noted. “Now we start an intense push to the end of the season. In 2024, we made a good step in the second part of the season. I hope we can repeat that. We have a lot of information, and now it’s time to put everything on track and show our potential.”

Looking Ahead

Following the Austrian GP, the paddock heads straight to the inaugural Hungarian GP at Balaton Park, a tight and technical circuit set to provide a stark contrast to Spielberg’s high-speed layout. For Honda HRC Castrol, Austria marks not just a return to racing, but an opportunity to reset and deliver results in the business end of the season.
