For many Malaysians, Jehan Miskin is a familiar face on screen. But off screen, Jehan is just as passionate about motorcycles as he is about storytelling. From Dakar rally dreams to conquering the Himalayas, he has lived the kind of riding adventures most bikers only fantasize about.

In this special feature with iMotorbike, Jehan shares his earliest memories of motorcycling, his most memorable rides, and why two wheels continue to shape his lifestyle and outlook on life.

Let’s start from the beginning, what first sparked your interest in motorcycles?

Jehan: “As far back as I can remember, I’ve always been fascinated with big bikes. The two biggest impressions of motorcycles in my childhood were superbikes and Dakar rally riding, and I used to daydream about one day riding big bikes myself.”

“However, it was only a dream as I did not even have a bicycle and never had the chance to learn how to cycle. When I was 12 years old, I got tired of watching my older brother do tricks on his BMX, took the bike and learnt to cycle on my own in the back alley behind my house. I remember falling into the drain culvert, but it didn’t deter me and it was satisfying to learn to cycle on my own.”

Do you remember your very first bike? What was it, and what made it special to you?

“The first bike that was truly memorable was my older brother’s Cagiva Mito 125. That bike had to be ridden flat out, redlining all 7 gears to get it to top speed. Riding that bike always felt wild and on the edge.”

Jihan captures the moment of loading bikes onto the Hatyai train, reminiscing, ‘Back in the days when it was still permitted.’

How would you describe what riding means to you, personally?

“The best riding is flow. When the corners are endless, and the world narrows to just you, the bike, the curves and your riding buddies, it even sometimes feels like flying. It is also adventure, exploration and brotherhood, and when it all comes together, that is riding bliss.”

Is there a memorable ride or road trip that stands out in your mind? Tell us about it.

“Too many epic rides! Well, riding my Harley Davidson Custom Nightrod Special from KL to Shangri-La, China in 2015 stands out as one of the most challenging rides I’ve ever done. Riding in New Zealand on that same bike with my wife will forever be etched in my mind as one of the most scenic rides ever.

Riding to Khardung-La in the Himalayas was life changing. Since then, our riding group made a pact to do an epic Ride of our Life every single year, a promise we have kept for more than 10 years now (except during the pandemic).”

What’s your current motorcycle, and why did you choose it?

“I still own the Harley Davidson Custom Nightrod but my main tourer is a Ducati Desert X. My riding style is well suited to adventure bikes and I love the Ducati Desert X as it has Ducati’s road DNA with some off-road capabilities, allowing me to layan (tackle) corners on the roads while having the confidence to face anything the road may throw at us on a long-distance ride.”

What’s your favourite bike of all time?

“I don’t have just one because I love and appreciate all things two-wheeled. For example, riding the Royal Enfield Himalayan 411 was the best bike in the Himalayas, and the Ducati Multistrada Enduro was an absolute joy when riding through the Spanish Pyrenees. Even riding the massive Victory Vision up Haleakala Volcano in Hawaii was epic!”

“But if I had to choose just one I’ll always say my current bike!”

Any favourite riding gear, brands, or essentials you never ride without?

“Raincoat in cold countries and high altitude has saved me countless times.”

How does motorcycling fit into your lifestyle? Does it influence your work, mindset, or creativity in any way?

“Long-distance riding is an essential part of my life as it provides me with the sense of adventure and exploration that I crave. When riding long distances regularly, I get to experience countries in a totally different way, seeing how people live from the villages, to small towns, exploring the countryside and big cities. This opens my eyes and stretches my mind in so many ways, and it also increases my appreciation for the life we have in Malaysia.”

“Riding also keeps me in the moment, it clears out all the clutter in daily life and just simplifies things to the moment I’m in, an experience that is getting rarer and more sacred in our increasingly busy modern lives.”

You sold your Moto Guzzi to us back then. How was the process so far? And would you recommend us to your biker friends and public?

“Selling my Moto Guzzi to iMotorbike was the smoothest, most seamless experience of selling a bike, ever! I would highly recommend iMotorbike being the first destination when buying or selling a motorcycle.”

Lastly, what advice would you give to someone thinking about starting their motorcycling journey?

“Just start! All you need is a bike, any bike, and the passion for riding. Everything else will fall into place.”

Jehan Miskin

Jehan Miskin’s journey with motorcycles is more than just a hobby, it’s about freedom, exploration, and living life on the edge of adventure. Whether carving corners on a Ducati Desert X or braving the Himalayas on a Royal Enfield, Jehan continues to embody the true spirit of motorcycling: passion, resilience, and brotherhood.

At iMotorbike, we’re proud to share his story, a reminder that every journey begins with just one ride.
