Malaysia has taken a big step toward its electromobility goals with the start of SoloEra Solo 1C production. The milestone was announced by EP Blueshark, a unit of EPMB, together with Blueshark Malaysia at EPMB’s Glenmarie facility.

The event was attended by MITI, MARii, PDB, and other industry leaders. It highlighted Malaysia’s growing role as a regional 2WEV hub.

Strengthening Malaysia’s EV Roadmap

Blueshark and EPMB have begun SoloEra Solo 1C production in Shah Alam. With 6,000 early registrations, Malaysia aims to become ASEAN’s 2WEV hub.

The Glenmarie facility starts with an annual capacity of 12,000 units. Plans are already underway to assemble the higher-performance Solo 2 and Solo 3 locally. This expansion will widen consumer choice and strengthen Malaysia’s position as a 2WEV manufacturing hub in ASEAN and beyond.

Datuk Hanafi Sakri, Deputy Secretary General (Industry) of MITI, hailed the development: “The mass production of advanced EV vehicles by EPMB, in partnership with Blueshark, will be pivotal in driving Malaysia towards its NETR and vehicle electrification targets.”

Industry-Wide Collaboration

The initiative has attracted strong support across the automotive ecosystem:

  • Azrul Reza Aziz, CEO of MARii highlighted that the Solo 1C demonstrates how players can leverage national incentives like the MARiiCas rebate programme to accelerate EV adoption.
  • Aidan Hamidon, Executive Director of EPMB, described the launch as a step forward in advancing Malaysia’s next generation of mobility solutions.
  • Azureen Azita Abdullah, COO of PDB, emphasised the importance of combining PDB’s nationwide energy network with Blueshark and EPMB’s EV expertise to build a future-ready mobility ecosystem.
  • Jeff Chong, CEO of Blueshark Malaysia, called the milestone proof of their commitment to making connected, smart electric motorcycles accessible to everyday riders while turning Malaysia into an ASEAN manufacturing hub.

Early Consumer Success: 6,000 Registrations in a Month

The Solo 1C has already struck a chord with Malaysians. Since its pre-launch campaign in July 2025, the model has garnered over 6,000 registrations of interest in just over a month.

Priced from RM599 during the limited-time campaign, the Solo 1C is among the most affordable electric motorcycles on the market. Partnerships with Mesra Rewards, Setel, and the MARiiCas rebate programme further boost accessibility and help riders shift from ICE motorcycles to electric alternatives.

A Leap Towards 2030 Targets

The SoloEra series is both a commercial success and a tool for Malaysia’s policy goals. With a 20% xEV adoption target by 2030, it offers riders a clear path to sustainable, connected, and affordable mobility.

EPMB and Blueshark are expanding production and rolling out new models. These efforts push Malaysia closer to leading ASEAN’s electromobility future.
