Honda is gearing up for a significant reveal on September 2, teasing the launch of a new electric motorcycle via a series of camouflaged images posted across its official social media platforms. The teaser has sparked widespread speculation that Honda is finally preparing to launch the first production model in its long-promised push toward electric motorcycles with more substantial performance credentials.
The images depict a motorcycle with traditional proportions, featuring a two-up seat, standard upright ergonomics, and a single-sided swingarm. Notably absent are the foot-forward design cues typical of electric scooters, strongly suggesting that this is a true motorcycle, not an e-scooter. The styling appears subtly sporty without the aggressive bodywork of a supersport machine, pointing instead to a commuter-oriented naked or street bike.
Interestingly, the overall silhouette closely resembles the EV Fun Concept that Honda showcased during the EICMA 2024 show in Milan, leading to speculation that the production version of that concept may finally be coming to market.

Electric commuter motorcycles have become increasingly common in recent years, as brands like Ryvid, Can-Am, and Kawasaki have launched urban-focused EVs that take advantage of electric drivetrains without the need for long-range touring capabilities. Honda’s new model appears poised to enter this growing segment.
This development also aligns with Honda’s stated objective to launch at least 10 electric motorcycle models by 2025, ranging from scooters to performance-oriented machines. Until now, Honda’s EV efforts have largely focused on smaller models and prototypes, such as the EM1 e: electric scooter and the CR Electric motocross concept.
It remains unclear whether Honda will equip this new motorcycle with its swappable battery technology, as seen in the EM1 e:. However, given the commuter-friendly styling, the model will likely target urban riders prioritising daily practicality over highway speed or extended range.
Honda has taken a cautious approach to electrification, especially when compared to more aggressive entries from Zero Motorcycles, LiveWire, and other startups. But the September 2 launch could mark a turning point, as the world’s largest motorcycle manufacturer signals a deeper commitment to two-wheeled electrification.
With pressure mounting from regulators and shifting consumer expectations, all eyes are on Honda to see if this unveiling will finally usher in a new era of electric motorcycles from a legacy brand long seen as a sleeping giant in the EV space.
