At Reload Land in Berlin, Ichiban Motorcycle unveiled something that felt like it shouldn’t exist outside the screen. The Ichiban Prototype 01, inspired by Shotaro Kaneda’s legendary bike from Akira, was revealed to the public for the first time. It didn’t just capture attention for its design, it reignited decades of cultural fascination with one of anime’s most iconic machines.

Performance beneath the style

This isn’t just a replica for display. The Prototype 01 is a functioning electric motorcycle, boasting serious numbers: a dual-motor 45kW drivetrain, 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds, and a 250km range. It charges to 70 per cent in just 30 minutes and features a torque boost mode humorously called “Godzilla Mode.” While the silhouette turns heads, the powertrain ensures it can hold its own against modern competition.

Built for riders, not just fans

Ichiban makes it clear that the focus is on the riding experience. Though inspired by a work of fiction, the Prototype 01 is engineered with real-world performance and rider obsession in mind. It’s low, sleek, and aggressive—but also practical, made to be ridden hard and fast on real roads.

The perfect stage: Reload Land

Berlin’s Reload Land is known for spotlighting cutting-edge electric mobility. Debuting the Prototype 01 here signaled Ichiban’s commitment to pushing both design and sustainability forward. With over 2,000 preregistrations already, the demand shows the market is eager for electric motorcycles that offer more than just efficiency.

A cultural resurrection, not just a concept

Since its release in 1988, Akira has influenced film, fashion, music, and now, motorcycle design. The film’s vision of Neo-Tokyo still shapes how we imagine the future. By recreating Kaneda’s bike with modern engineering, Ichiban Motorcycle isn’t just nodding to the past, they’re asking what futuristic transport should feel like in the present.

Ichiban Bringing fiction closer to reality

The Prototype 01 is a reminder that machines can be emotional. They can connect us to stories, to movements, and to our own sense of thrill. This bike is not just about speed. It’s about energy, legacy, and imagination. And for many, it’s about finally seeing a dream from the screen become something you can ride.
