When Ola Electric unveiled the Roadster X earlier this year, it wasn’t just launching a motorcycle — it was making a statement. Sleek, fast, and fully electric, the Roadster X was meant to be Ola’s bold leap into the electric motorcycle segment, following the success of its e-scooters. But now, just months after its high-profile debut, the company has quietly pushed deliveries from March to May 2025, and the reasons reveal more than just a paperwork problem.
Behind the Delay: More Than Just Bureaucracy?
Ola hasn’t given a direct explanation for the delay. But industry sources and internal letters point to one thing: homologation hold-ups. For an automaker as fast-moving (and hype-driven) as Ola, these regulatory delays feel like a reality check, especially since not a single Roadster X has reached customers since bookings opened.
Still, Ola isn’t backing down. With 1,395 bookings logged in February alone, there’s proof of demand. The delay might frustrate early adopters, but it also shows the brand is taking safety and compliance seriously — something critical for a high-speed electric motorcycle.

What You’re Actually Getting in the Roadster X
Ola is offering the Roadster X in two variants — the base X and the high-spec X+ — each with its punchy performance stats:
- Roadster X
- Battery options: 3.5, 4.5, or 5 kWh
- Top speed: 118 km/h
- 0–40 km/h in 3.1 seconds
- Max range: 252 km
- Roadster X+
- Battery options: 4.5 or 9.1 kWh
- Top speed: 125 km/h
- 0–40 km/h in 2.7 seconds
- Max range: 501 km
In short, these bikes aren’t just about going green — they’re built to perform.
Hype vs. Patience: Can Ola Hold the Momentum?
The big question now: Will customers wait? In an EV market that’s heating up by the month, delays like this can cost more than time — they can cost trust. But Ola seems to be banking on the Roadster X’s aggressive pricing and performance specs to keep customers engaged.
- Base price: ₹89,999 (approx. RM5,040)
- Introductory offer: ₹74,999 (approx. RM4,200)
If Ola can deliver on even half the promise — affordability, range, and speed — the Roadster X could still shake up the electric motorcycle landscape.
