Oben Electric has announced its next big move in the EV space with the launch of its O100 platform. Designed for the everyday commuter, this new platform focuses on delivering electric motorcycles that are practical, efficient and priced for the masses. It is Oben’s second major platform and is entirely developed in-house. It has over 25 patents covering its core technologies.
The O100 platform is for riders who typically choose petrol-powered 100 cc bikes. This segment makes up around 30 per cent of India’s two-wheeler market. Oben is positioning itself to offer a sustainable, cost-effective electric alternative.
Modular Design and Sub-Rs 1 Lakh Pricing
The new platform supports a modular setup, allowing Oben to release multiple electric motorcycle models with different battery sizes. All models based on the O100 will come with a price tag under Rs 1 lakh (around RM5,600). This makes them competitive with entry-level petrol bikes while offering the benefits of zero-emission riding and lower running costs.
Oben plans to launch the first O100-based motorcycle in the second half of 2025.
Expanding on Rorr’s Success
Oben currently sells two electric motorcycles, the Rorr and the Rorr EZ, built on its original ARX platform. The Rorr features an 8 kW motor paired with a 4.4 kWh battery, offering 187 km of range and a top speed of 100 km/h. It accelerates from 0 to 40 km/h in 3 seconds and includes features like a driver alert system and geo-fencing. The Rorr comes with a price tag of Rs 1.50 lakh (approximately RM8,400).
The more budget-friendly Rorr EZ starts at Rs 89,999 (around RM5,000) and comes in three battery options: 2.6 kWh, 3.4 kWh and 4.4 kWh, with prices going up to Rs 1.19 lakh (roughly RM6,600).
Aiming for Mass Adoption
With the O100 platform, Oben is not just expanding its product lineup. It is attempting to reshape how India views electric mobility for daily use. Instead of focusing on niche performance or luxury EVs, Oben is going after the heart of the market by offering a cleaner, simpler and more affordable solution to everyday commuting.
If successful, the O100 platform could play a major role in pushing electric motorcycles from a growing trend to an everyday reality for millions of Indian riders.
