Alessandro Lupino roared back into contention in the Italian Prestige Pro MX2 Championship this past weekend, claiming a hard-fought second overall at the historic Cingoli circuit aboard the Desmo250 MX. Representing the Beddini Racing Ducati Corse Factory MX2 Team, Lupino’s performance not only earned him a podium finish but also strengthened his hold on second place in the championship standings.
The fourth round of the 2025 season took place on the classic central Italian track, which this year celebrated 80 years of racing history. Lupino started the weekend with a strong showing in Saturday’s timed practice, securing second in his group and fourth overall at the gate for Sunday’s races.
In the first moto, Lupino launched into fourth place and quickly found his rhythm. By lap six, he had overtaken his closest rival in the standings and held onto third through the 16-lap race, showcasing his tenacity on the technical terrain.
The second moto saw Lupino step up the intensity. He surged to second on the opening lap and grabbed the lead just three laps in. The pace ramped up dramatically, turning the race into a tense three-way duel for victory. Lupino battled fiercely, ultimately finishing second by just 0.597 seconds—a near photo finish that earned him second overall for the weekend.
“It was a challenging weekend,” said Lupino. “On Saturday I struggled with the bike and track, but on Sunday we found a good setup. In Race 2 the track was more technical, and I really had fun. I’m happy with the result—we’re proving that we’re getting closer to the front with every race.”
With the Desmo250 MX debuting just a few months ago in February, Lupino’s consistency and speed highlight Ducati’s growing competitiveness in the MX2 field. The team now has a three-and-a-half-month break to fine-tune the machine before the championship resumes in Castiglione del Lago on August 30th and 31st.
Lupino’s return to the podium not only reaffirms his status as a title contender but also marks a major milestone for Ducati’s off-road ambitions in the prestigious Italian MX2 series.
