Scott Redding is making waves ahead of the 2025 WorldSBK season, not just with his return to Ducati but also with his surprising switch to vegan-friendly racing gear. The British rider has opted for a non-leather, animal-free race suit from Italian manufacturer Virus Power, marking a significant departure from traditional racing apparel brands like Alpinestars, Dainese, or RST.

Redding was spotted wearing the innovative suit during pre-season testing at Jerez and Phillip Island, showcasing his commitment to sustainability and ethical choices. The suit, made from high-strength polyester, meets the stringent AAA safety standards required for WorldSBK racing, ensuring top-level abrasion and impact protection.

The move to Virus Power is part of Redding’s fresh start for the 2025 season, which also sees him back on a Ducati after several challenging years with BMW. The MGM Bonovo Racing Ducati rider’s decision to embrace vegan-friendly gear highlights his willingness to explore new avenues and make bold changes in his career.

Virus Power, founded in 2018 as an extension of protective workwear firm Pri.Ma.Tex Srl, has been gaining traction in the racing world. The brand’s suits are manufactured in Italy and are machine washable, offering both practicality and performance. The armor used in the suits is rated at the highest CE level 2, ensuring maximum safety for riders.

While Redding is the most high-profile rider to adopt Virus Power’s animal-free suits, the brand has already established a presence in domestic superbike championships in Italy and Spain, as well as the European Moto2 class. The brand also offers four suit options for European customers, with prices starting at €1,399 (RM 4,641).

Redding’s switch to vegan-friendly racing gear is a testament to his forward-thinking approach and willingness to embrace innovation. With sustainability becoming an increasingly important topic in motorsport, Redding’s choice could inspire other riders to explore eco-friendly alternatives, paving the way for a more sustainable future in racing.
