The Petronas MIE Racing Honda Team is set to kick off the 2025 FIM Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK) and Supersport World Championship (WorldSSP) seasons with a dynamic four-rider line-up.

British rider Tarran Mackenzie and Malaysian rookie Zaqhwan Zaidi will represent the team in WorldSBK, while Japanese rider Kaito Toba and Malaysian debutant Syarifuddin Azman will compete in WorldSSP.

This season marks an exciting new chapter for the team as it aims to build on past performances and inject fresh energy into its campaign. The inclusion of Malaysian riders Zaidi and Azman highlights Petronas’ commitment to nurturing homegrown talent and providing opportunities for young Asian riders to shine on the global stage.

The team’s 2025 livery retains the iconic Petronas green as its base, complemented by bold black stripes on the tank, a new black lower fairing, and additional black details. This aggressive new aesthetic is also reflected in the riders’ leathers, symbolizing the team’s determination to make a strong impression this season.

Following productive winter testing sessions in Spain, Portugal, and Australia, the Petronas MIE Racing Honda Team is fully prepared for the challenges ahead. The season opener will take place this weekend, February 21-23, at the Phillip Island Circuit in Australia.

Midori Moriwaki, Team Owner, expressed her enthusiasm: “I am very pleased to launch our 2025 WorldSBK and WorldSSP campaign with our four riders. This is our third year partnering with Petronas, and we have a strong structure in place. We are ready to open the door to the next era of the project. Beyond the Best!”

Tarran Mackenzie (#95) is eager to build on his 2024 experience: “I’m looking forward to my second WorldSBK season. We have a solid package and strong potential. Having experience on all the tracks will be beneficial, and our goal is to improve on last season’s results.”

Zaqhwan Zaidi (#21), making his WorldSBK debut, is ready for the challenge: “Racing in WorldSBK has always been a dream. I’m honoured to represent Malaysia and will do my best to learn and perform for the team.”

In WorldSSP, Kaito Toba (#27) aims to build on his 2024 progress: “I’m excited to start my second season. My goal is to consistently finish in the top ten and improve on last year’s performance.”

Syarifuddin Azman (#63), set for his WorldSSP debut, is determined to make an impact: “It’s an incredible feeling to join the team. I’ll do my best to learn and gain experience at every race weekend. Thank you to Petronas and the team for this opportunity!”

As the season begins, the Petronas MIE Racing Honda Team is ready to push boundaries and chase success on the world stage. Stay tuned with iMotorbike for an action-packed weekend at Phillip Island!
