The 2025 season of the Malaysia Superbike Championship (MSBK) is set to ignite the motorsports scene in May, with a highly anticipated four-round calendar promising an exhilarating season.

The championship, a cornerstone of Malaysian motorsport, continues to thrive under the long-standing collaboration between PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit (PETRONAS SIC) and Two Wheels Motor Racing Sdn. Bhd. (TWMR). Together, they aim to create a world-class platform that nurtures professional racers and inspires aspiring talents.

The previous 2024 season marked a pivotal chapter for the MSBK, celebrating unprecedented milestones that underscored its growing international appeal. Riders from 11 different nationalities graced the championship, marking the largest international representation since its inception.

Adding to the excitement, the Ducati China Panigale Cup made a special one-off appearance during Round 3, providing a unique spectacle for fans. Meanwhile, the Yamaha R15M Race Elites made their debut in Round 2, introducing a dynamic one-make series that captivated audiences throughout the season.

Ron Hogg, Promotions Director of TWMR, expressed his enthusiasm for the championship’s future, emphasizing the importance of expanding its reach and impact. He stated, “Our goal remains to widen the championship’s outreach. Beyond being a proving ground for professional riders, we aim to inspire and motivate aspiring racers. The inclusion of participants from neighbouring countries is a testament to the championship’s growing appeal.”

Hogg also remarked on TWMR’s dedication to meeting global motorsport standards, ensuring that the MSBK community is equipped to tackle bigger challenges on the international stage.

Echoing this optimism, PETRONAS SIC Chief Executive Officer Azhan Shafriman Hanif highlighted the achievements of the 2024 season, attributing much of the championship’s success to its strong partnership with TWMR.

“We are proud of the progress MSBK has made, especially with the growing international participation in 2024. This success has elevated the championship’s presence on a global level. MSBK not only serves as a platform for riders but also plays a vital role in boosting tourism by drawing fans to our world-class circuit. We are excited for 2025 and confident that this partnership will continue to grow the racing industry while creating opportunities for brands to connect with the sport and its audience,” he said.

The primary MSBK1000 class in 2024 showcased a thrilling competition, wrapping off in a dominant season for Thai rider Nakarin Atiratphuvapat of Honda Racing Thailand. Nakarin secured the championship title after Race 1 in the final round at PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit.

Despite having already clinched the title, Nakarin demonstrated unwavering determination, claiming his sixth consecutive victory to close the season with 174 points. Malaysian rider Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman of Horizon Racing Team finished second in the standings with 117 points, while Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin of Yamaha Tekhne Racing Team Asia secured third with 106 points.

As the MSBK gears up for its 2025 season, it continues to cement its reputation as a premier racing championship, attracting top-tier talent and fostering a vibrant motorsport culture in Malaysia and beyond. With an exciting calendar and unwavering support from PETRONAS SIC and TWMR, the stage is set for another electrifying chapter in Malaysian motorcycle racing.
