Pos Malaysia Berhad has taken a major stride in its sustainability journey by collaborating with Motosikal Dan Enjin Nasional Sdn Bhd (MODENAS) to introduce 1,092 MEV-1 PRO electric scooters into its postal delivery fleet. This deployment is the second phase of a larger agreement to supply 5,000 e-scooters, aimed at replacing Pos Malaysia’s ageing two-wheel delivery vehicles.

The MEV-1 PRO e-scooters were officially handed over at a ceremony held at the Modenas plant in Gurun, Kedah. This initiative aligns with Pos Malaysia’s ambitious goal to fully electrify its first- and last-mile delivery fleet by 2030, supporting its broader Net Zero commitment by 2050.

Speaking at the event, Fiona Liao, Group Chief Marketing, Communications, and Sustainability Officer of Pos Malaysia, emphasized the company’s focus on sustainability: “At Pos Malaysia, we are deeply aware of our responsibility to minimize environmental impact. Since launching our Sustainability Roadmap in 2023, we’ve been committed to greener, more sustainable operations, fully aligned with Malaysia’s climate goals.”

With the inclusion of these e-scooters, Pos Malaysia’s EV fleet now comprises 220 electric motorcycles and 143 electric vans. Plans are underway to expand this fleet further, with additional electric vans set to roll out next year, bringing the company closer to achieving its 100% green delivery target for first- and last-mile services by 2030.

The Modenas MEV-1 PRO is specifically tailored for business-to-business (B2B) operations, offering robust features suited for logistics and delivery services. With a maximum power output of 4.3 kW, the scooter can handle inclines of up to 19 degrees and carry loads of up to 250 kg, making it ideal for challenging delivery routes.

To ensure reliability and ease of maintenance, Modenas will provide comprehensive servicing support through its nationwide network.

Roslan Roskan, CEO of MODENAS, underscored the company’s commitment to sustainable mobility: “The MEV-1 PRO reflects our dedication to delivering practical, eco-friendly transportation solutions for Malaysia’s B2B sector. We are proud to support Pos Malaysia’s green journey and look forward to extending affordable, sustainable mobility options to individual consumers soon.”

By integrating electric scooters into its fleet, Pos Malaysia is not only enhancing delivery efficiency but also setting a benchmark in the logistics industry for reducing emissions. This initiative strengthens the company’s commitment to fostering a cleaner, healthier environment for the communities it serves.
