The Aspar Team has demonstrated the strength of unity and compassion by raising over €100,000 (RM 471,000) in just three days through a GoFundMe campaign to assist flood victims in Valencia.
The initiative, launched on November 1, has received widespread support and remains open for donations as Valencia continues to recover from last week’s severe flooding.
The floods had a severe impact as the Valencia region was preparing to host the 20th and final round of the 2024 MotoGP World Championship at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit. Unfortunately, the disaster resulted in significant loss of life and widespread infrastructure damage, leading MotoGP officials to cancel the Valencian Grand Prix.
MotoGP then announced that Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya would officially step in as the replacement venue, even though Barcelona itself had faced flooding on November 4.
The Aspar Team’s dedication to Valencia extends beyond racing. David Alonso’s recent Moto3 victory in Malaysia’s Sepang marked his 13th win in a record-setting season, while teammate Izan Guevara secured his first Moto2 podium. Both riders dedicated their successes to those affected by the flooding as a show of support.
Former Aspar rider and MotoGP champion Francesco Bagnaia, along with Jorge Martin, who shared the Moto3 grid with Bagnaia in 2015 and 2016, showcased their solidarity by displaying the Valencian flag on the podium at the Malaysian Grand Prix.
As the fundraising campaign continues, fans and supporters are urged to contribute, exemplifying the resilience and supportive spirit of the global MotoGP community.
