The iconic streetwear brand Super Sunday has ventured into the world of motorsports this year, debuting in the 250cc category of the MAM Malaysia Superbike Championship (MSBK).
Started in 2017, the MSBK championship is an annual event held at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC), featuring four rounds throughout the year. It has become a key platform for emerging talent, and this year, Super Sunday is making waves with its entry.
Competing under the SUPERSUNDAY Racing Team name, the brand has taken a bold step by merging the thrill of high-speed racing with the flair of urban fashion. Their Honda CBR250RR, wrapped in Super Sunday’s signature vibrant red livery, is a standout on the track, turning heads and adding a splash of colour to the asphalt
The team’s rider, Mohd Ezrix Syariz, #71, has already made a notable impact. In Round 1 back in May, Ezrix achieved an impressive P5 in Race 1 and followed it up with a notable P4 finish in Race 2, setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting season.
As the championship moves into its second round, iMotorbike had a talk with Ezrix after a free practice session to discuss his experiences and the team’s progress so far.
Reflecting on the debut season, Ezrix shared, “Yes, this is SUPERSUNDAY Racing Team’s first time in the championship. The bikes have been performing well, but for me, it’s been a different story. I’m getting older, and competing against these younger riders is tough. I might only be able to challenge them a little.”
He added, “Making it to the podium would be something of a miracle and really special for me. But what’s most important is that I can still provide good competition in this B category of MSBK250.”
When asked about the teams that have posed the toughest competition, Ezrix noted, “In my category, B, the Yuzy team (HONDA ESTREMO YUZY RACING) is quite strong. The SCK team (Honda NWN SCK Racing Team) is also really good. I think at my level, I can still keep up with them and provide strong competition.”
Looking ahead, Ezrix also touched on his future in motorsport, acknowledging that age might be a factor but inviting anyone interested in sponsorship or needing a rider to reach out to him.
“I’m still open to any collaborations or sponsorships from those wanting to enter the motorsport scene and need a rider. Sure, some people know me, but there are still many who don’t. Maybe I can help them out—they can use my experience, and it’s a win-win situation. You can find me on Instagram or Facebook, though I have to admit, I’m more of a Facebook guy,” he added with a laugh.
In the final race of Round 2, Ezrix and Super Sunday finished in P9. Despite competing against a field of younger, faster riders, Ezrix gave his best effort throughout the races, and Super Sunday’s entry into the motorsports realm is commendable.
The brand has shown remarkable bravery and commitment to its passion, extending beyond just fashion into the world of motorsports. They’ve also launched a special motorsport edition of merchandise, further solidifying their presence in this exciting industry.
The upcoming Round 3 of MSBK will be held from October 11 to 13, and all eyes will be on the Super Sunday Racing Team as they continue their journey.
