Sepang International Circuit (SIC) is aiming to break its attendance record at the Petronas Grand Prix of Malaysia 2024, targeting 200,000 spectators from November 1 to 3.

SIC Chief Executive Officer Azhan Shafriman Hanif expressed confidence that the heightened excitement surrounding the MotoGP championship, particularly the intense battle for the world title, will draw a substantial crowd of both local and international fans to the iconic Malaysian venue.

“We are very excited to celebrate the success of this extraordinary event since 25 years ago when SIC opened its doors in 1999,” Azhan said during the Malaysian Grand Prix 2024 press conference in Kuala Lumpur.

“This year is special as we also celebrate Petronas’ 50th anniversary and Dorna Sports’ 75th anniversary. To mark this occasion, several events are planned, including an ‘After Race’ concert festival, which aims to further boost attendance,” he added.

The After Race concert festival, set for November 3, will feature performances from renowned artists such as Macklemore, Smash Mouth, Nidji, Feel Koplo, 6ixth Sense, and De Fam, with additional performers to be announced in September.

To encourage early ticket purchases, SIC has introduced early bird tickets priced at RM500 from August 20 to 31, which include access to the After Race Fest. The price will increase to RM600 after September 1.

In addition, SIC is also offering Rahmah Tickets at RM49.90, with a special 25 percent discount available until September 20, 2024, in conjunction with the Merdeka Day celebration. This initiative aims to surpass last year’s spectator count and reach the ambitious goal of 200,000 attendees this year.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Adam Adli, highlighted the importance of SIC’s ability to host a world-class event like the Malaysian MotoGP.

He emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting the motorsport community, creating job opportunities, boosting tourism, and empowering youth through initiatives such as Rakan Litar.

“This reflects our dedication to fostering excellence and innovation in sports, and supporting new talent like Hakim Danish and Qabil Irfan in their quest to become world champions,” Adam stated.

Fans attending the event can also look forward to various exciting off-track activities, including the ‘Public Pit Lane Walk,’ a riders’ autograph session, and the return of the popular night track tour on November 1.

The Mega MotoGP Carnival will also feature over 100 top brands, offering a mix of shopping, entertainment, and interactive family-friendly activities.

Tickets for the event are available at www.sepangcircuit.com.
