MV Agusta Lucky Explorer Project 9.5: testing the Schiranna prototype

A tribute to the Cagiva Elefant, buyers will be able to take part in the development of the MV Agusta Lucky Explorer.

It’s Lucky Explorer-mania as the heirs of the legendary Cagiva Elefant have already collected 15,000 pre-orders of the maxi-enduro. This is triple the MV Agusta’s 2021 production. The prototype of the Italian house is already available for pre-order and will be arriving on the market next year. We are uncertain of the name but speculations do not rule out Elefant as among the possibilities.

MV Agusta’s latest project is an adventure bike with extremely modern shapes. This bike is an ode to the Elefant, which won the Paris-Dakar in 1990 and 1994 courtesy of Italian rider Edi Orioli. We can expect the Lucky Explorers to land in dealerships at the end of next spring.

The MV Agusta maxi adventure proudly sports the red and white graphics as we recall the sponsors of the motorcycle in which Orioli triumphed at Dakar in 1990.

It features light clusters in pure Cagiva style and carbon fibre elements to protect some mechanical elements.

MV Agusta has provided two options in terms of displacement. The 9.5 version offers a 931cc three-cylinder engine whereas the 5.5 comes with a smaller 554cc twin-cylinder setup. Both bikes come with electric starters, hydraulic clutches, and six-speed transmissions.

The price tag is likely to be around 19,000 euros for the 9.5 version. Those who place the pre-order will become part of an exclusive community managed by the Schiranna company.

Given that the bike is still in the prototype stage, buyers will be able to participate in the development of the bike. This would include suggesting possible features and colours of the bike, as well as the definitive name of the project.

Enthusiasts can anticipate the Cagiva Elefant name as one of the eligible candidates. This would bring the brand of the historic group led by the Castiglioni brothers back into the limelight.
