MODENAS previously announced that the Modenas Ninja 250 will be launched around the end of the first quarter of 2022 but the sight of the bike remains unseen.

As many are aware, Edaran Modenas Sdn Bhd (EMOS) has been announced to take over as the official distributor of the Kawasaki brand in Malaysia.

The partnership was sealed after Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) increased its equity stake in Modenas from 19 per cent to 30 per cent in 2019. KHI shares could also increase to 48 per cent through the purchase of 52 million units of convertible preference shares.

In October last year, Modenas CEO Roslan Roskan announced that the company would resume its collaboration with Kawasaki starting in 2022.

Roslan stated that the model that has been screened before, the Modenas Ninja 250, will be launched around the end of the first quarter of 2022.

Malaysia has now entered the last month of the First Quarter of 2022 and there are only a few weeks left before the Second Quarter begins.

Despite that, news of the rebranded Ninja 250 remains scarce. This is even though the factory in Gurun has already prepared facilities for the assembly of Kawasaki models as previously reported.

According to information obtained previously, Modenas will rebrand several Kawasaki models from 250 to 650cc. However, sources report that this matter was still under discussion.

So far, Modenas has opened the curtains of 2022 by launching a compact scooter, the Karisma 125S which is priced at RM5,397.
