FIM Enel MotoE World Cup heads to Jerez for testing for its first official track action.
The FIM Enel MotoE World Cup just had its first test of 2021. Day 1 of the test drawn to a close at the Circuit de Jerez-Angel Nieto and Dominique Aegerter of Dynavolt Intact GP topped the day with a time record fo 1:48.478. The Swiss surpassed fellow veteran Eric Granado of One Energy Racing. The two ended the test with only a tenth and a half apart at the top. Alessandro Zaccone of Octo Pramac Racing completed the top three with an impressive performance.
Both Aegerter and Granado managed to set their fastest laps in the third and final session of the day in Andalucia. 17 of the 18-strong grid attended the three-day outing. Mattia Casadei of Ongetta SIC58 Squadra Corse was sidelined due to an injury in training.
There are nine rookies on the grid this season and the fastest debutant on Day 1 is Spanish youngster Fermin Aldeguer of Openbank Aspar Team. The Spaniard will be only 16 on his race debut in MotoE. He was fourth fastest overall ahead of Matteo Ferrari of Team Gresini MotoE. Ferrari suffered a crash but remained unhurt. Lukas Tulovic of Tech 3 E-Racing bounced back from his injuries last year and finished sixth place.
2020 Cup winner Jordi Torres Pons Racing 40 crossed the line at seventh. Xavier Cardelus of Avintia Esponsorama Racing, Maria Herrera of Openbank Aspar Team) and the second-fastest rookie Andrea Mantovani of Team Gresini MotoE completed the top ten.
