The coronavirus outbreak has been affecting everyone at large globally and the World Health Organisation has recently declared it as a pandemic. As such, a lot of group activities, including matches and races, have been cancelled or postponed. Several MotoGP races have been delayed or cancelled as well. This time, Sepang International Circuit (SIC) too, are not willing to risk the health of people.

In accordance with the recent statement made by the Malaysian Minister of Youth and Sports (KBS), YB Dato’ Sri Reezal Merican Naina Merican, any events involving mass gathering which includes sporting events that have been approved or to be organized by KBS or any agencies under KBS is to be postponed or cancelled according to suitability until 30 April 2020. The decision here is to prioritise the safety and health mainly of the youth and sports athletes involved to prevent the potential spreading of COVID-19.

Sepang International Circuit (SIC) takes serious attention pertaining to public health and safety and according to the advice from the government, all events in SIC will be cancelled or postponed until further notice.

This, unfortunately, affects the upcoming Asia GT Testing, Malaysia Speed Festival (MSF), Desmo Cup this weekend, 14 and 15 March 2020, which has been cancelled. The first and second round of Malaysia Championship Series (MCS) that was scheduled on 27 to 29 of March and 10 to 12 April together with Round 1 of Malaysia Superbike Championship (MSBK) from 3 to 5 April 2020 will also be postponed to a later date.

SIC urges everyone to be safe at all time and avoid from being in crowded areas and if feel discomfort or sick, kindly consult certified medical personnel. For guest attending meetings in SIC, facial mask, hand sanitizers and temperature checking will be conducted at all main entries to the paddock and circuit office.

SIC will work closely with Ministry of Health (MOH), Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) and the Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM) in providing latest information and updates in regards to the COVID-19 situation.
