Mission Winnow Ducati will bring a special Desmosedici GP19 to the Italian GP this weekend at Mugello to try and secure their third straight win.
This weekend at Mugello the MotoGP season continues with the Italian GP. But Mugello isn’t a normal track for the Ducati team. It’s their home race, a place where they’ve won for the last two seasons. And to secure their third straight win Ducati will have something special for Andrea Dovizioso and Danilo Petrucci.
It’s not easy to say exactly what Gigi Dall’igna has prepared for Mugello. We all know that his team is able to always find something to improve the Desmosedici GP prototype. This season they’ve further developed the aerodynamic wings. But unlike past seasons, where Ducati was the fastest MotoGP bike, this season Honda is also very fast.
This situation makes Ducati mission to win at Mugello more difficult. Ducati could have at the Italian GP a stronger mapping for their V4 engine. But since each team has just seven engines for each rider, getting more power means the reliability might be compromised. Ducati will face Honda on the same power level.
With Andrea Dovizioso just 8 points behind championship leader Marc Marquez, it will interesting to see what Ducati has prepared for Mugello.
